Jason Amato
Lighting Design

Jason has been a resident designer and member of VORTEX Repertory Company since 1994. During his career, he has designed internationally with local and regional artists, such as the Jose Greco II Flamenco Dance Company. Amato is also the Resident Lighting Designer for Zachary Scott Theatre, Blue Lapis Light Dance, and Tapestry Dance Company.

Jason has designed over 500 shows and received numerous awards for his designs including B. Iden Payne and Austin Critics Table Awards for lighting VORTEX's Trickster, The Deluge, Despair's Book of Dreams and the Sometimes Radio, and The X&Y Trilogy.

"...his designs are like being trapped in a stained-glass box. When you simply can't take the richness of it all, he hits you with a white shaft of intensity that is carefully timed to brilliantly underscore the most important bit of play."
