Sarah
Silver Hands conjures a dark faery tale world, revolving around
the Cornucopia Tree and telling the story of Princess Sarah of the
Autumn Kingdom. Discover how Sarah receives her magical Silver Hands.
Will the Winter Witch, Spyril, succeed in her evil plots against
the Autumn Kingdom? Will Sarah triumph with the help of The Autumn
Sprites, The Golden Gazelle, The Green Monkey, and The Scarlet Tiger?
How will young Sarah overcome her challenges in order to save her
father and her kingdom?

VORTEX Repertory Company proudly presents the world premiere of this new opera by award-winning Austin artist, Chad Salvata, creator, composer, and orchestrator of the music and libretto. Sarah Silver Hands is a vibrant new faery tale and continues Salvata’s long line of original, contemporary operas with fantasy themes and magical realism. Chad Salvata has been recognized with many awards for artistic excellence including B. Iden Payne Awards for Outstanding Original Score for Vampyress and The Dragonfly Princess and an Austin Critics’ Table Award for Outstanding Original Score for Pythia Dust. Sarah Silver Hands is directed by Bonnie Cullum, award-winning VORTEX Producing Artistic Director.
Sarah Silver Hands stars award-winning VORTEXian Betsy McCann as Spyril and introduces Christine Achico as Sarah. Also featuring Melissa Vogt-Patterson, Rudy Ramirez, Hayley Armstrong, Anderson Dear, Justin LaVergne, Christina Leidel, Andy Agne, and Joanna Wright.
The lavish fantasy designs feature a multi-dimensional Cornucopia Tree by Ann Marie Gordon, magical lighting by Jason Amato, fantasy costumes by Talena Martinez and Chad Salvata. Mask creations by Melissa Vogt-Patterson. Hair and Makeup Design by Helen Hutka. Sound Design by Sergio R. Samayoa.
Choreography by Gabriel Maldonado. Fight Choreography by Toby Minor. Percussion by Matthew Patterson. Prop Design by Helen Parish. Stage Management by Tamara L. Farley.
