In Cookie, which played to sold out houses at The VORTEX in 2003, Gold explores identity and sexuality with plenty of social and political commentary thrown in, all while baking cookies. That's right! Baking cookies, which the audience inevitably gets to sample. After playing for over a year in San Francisco, Cookie was named Best of the Bay by The Oakland Tribune and received Curve Magazine's National Lesbian Theatre Award. Tuesday March 14, for one night only, is Gold's brand new piece, The Law Project. In this one-woman show, Gold begs the questions "Is the law what holds this country together?" Combining her unused law degree with dead-on comic timing, Gold guides the audience through her experiences in law school. The Law Project is an interactive theater piece, which invites the audience to share their ideas with Gold, making it an intellectual experience for both performer and patron. This Austin performance is the first outside of San Francisco.
